We would like to invite you again to Akureyri where you will see the Social Posters Exhibition at Kartöflugeymslan Gallery from 1st till 30th of September 2017. It will be one of of the first events that will take place during the project Polish Posters under Northern Lights / Við skin norðurljósa – Pólsk veggspjöld in Iceland this Autumn.
Social posters convey their message to anyone in any country in almost any language. A social poster needs to alert and engage the viewer in a compelling and provocative fashion. The exhibition presents posters, which express concerns about a wide range of issues: from tolerance, environment and violence, to the influence of the state on the life of its citizens. Displayed posters contain also important topics related to Polish society.
Kartóflugeymslan Gallery is in an old, reconstructed potato storage bunker at the top of the Akureyri Art Street. The old Potato Storage facility was completely renovated by Kollgáta architecture as their offices in 2005 and received the Akureyri architecture award the following year (http://www.kollgata.is).
Kollgáta architecture was founded in 2004 and have received number of awards for their works. The owners and coordinators of the event are:
Logi Már Einarsson – architect.
Ingólfur Freyr Guðmundsson – industrial designer.
See you there!
